Troubleshooting: I am unable to update InCopy/InDesign

If you are unable to select the option called "Updates" found under the "Help" menu in InCopy or InDesign then the function has been disabled. (This will also be the case if you cannot see any updates available in the Creative Cloud app.)


To enable updates you will need to locate the file found in the following location:



<Startup Disk>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdaterInventory/1.0/AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat


Windows 32-bit:

C:\Program files\common files\adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0\AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat


Windows 64-bit:

 C:\Program files(x86)\common files\adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0\AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat


Either rename this file or move it to the desktop and then try the update again. (Note that you will need to restart InDesign/InCopy/Creative Cloud if they are running. If the update does not appear you can download it directly from the following locations for CC2015: Windows | Mac)
