Introduction
This guide outlines the steps required to roll forward a CtrlPrint project to a newer version of InDesign so you can update your project without disrupting Integrate links and ensure continued smooth collaboration in your next reporting project.
Step-by-Step instructions
1. Enable administrator mode: Enable administrator mode and make sure you are a Company Administrator to be able to duplicate a project.
2. Duplicate project: On the company page for the target project, click the context menu (three dots) and select "Duplicate Project".
Ensure the "Duplicate Documents" option is active during this process.
3. Export IDML: Open the first chapter in InDesign within the duplicated project. Navigate to File Menu in InDesign, click Export and choose "IDML" as the file format. Save the IDML file in a convenient location.
4. Close without saving the document back to the server: Close the InDesign document without saving any changes back to the server.
5. New InDesign Version: Launch the InDesign version to which you want to roll forward the project.
6. Open IDML: Open the exported IDML file (created in step 3) using the new InDesign version that you launched.
7. Unlock & Delete: In the CtrlPrint project page for the duplicated project:
- Unlock the chapter you checked out previously (see how to Unlock a Chapter).
- Delete the first version of the chapter (see how to Delete Chapter Version) leaving no document in that chapter.
8. Add document: Within the new InDesign version (created in step 6), add the document to the chapter that is now empty in the duplicated CtrlPrint project (see how to Add InDesign Document to Chapter on the Server).
9. Verification: The chapter should now be rolled forward successfully, retaining its Integrate links and using the new InDesign version.
10. Repeat: Repeat these steps for each chapter in the project to complete the roll forward process.
