Guide: Locating the Temp folder - macOS

First try using the "Open Recent" option found under the "File" menu in InCopy/InDesign. A list of the most recent files you have worked on should be listed. Make sure the version you open is the correct one.

If you need to retrieve a document that is still out by you there is a link to instructions regarding which folder to look for. This is found on the page which shows that the document is locked by you. See image here.

To locate the "Temp" folder on a Mac:

1. Click anywhere on your desktop or open a "Finder" window. Next hold down the "Alt" key and click on the "Go" menu at the top of the screen and select "Library". ("Library" will not appear if you do not hold down "Alt".)

2. Open the "Preferences" folder.

3. Open the folder called "Ctrl".

4. Open the folder called "Temp".

You may need to right click on the file and select "Open with" – or drag the file directly into InCopy – if you get an error message when you double click it.
