Troubleshooting: "Error: An error occurred when launching the application"

This is caused if an earlier installation of a Creative Cloud application has been removed after being used with CtrlPrint.

To resolve this follow these instructions:

For Windows:

Locate any shortcuts to CC applications found in your "Ctrl" folder and move these to the trash. (They will be correctly recreated the next time you download a document.) These files are found in the following location:

User > Appdata > Roaming > Ctrl

The easiest way to access this folder is to type the following into the search field found when you click on the "Start" menu or next to the "Start" menu in Windows 10 and hit enter:

%appdata%

This will take you to the "Roaming" folder. Click on the folder called "Ctrl" that appears.

Move the shortcuts to CC applications found in the Ctrl folder to the trash.

You should now be able to download a document for editing correctly.

For Mac:

Locate any shortcuts to CC applications found in your "Ctrl" folder and move these to the trash. (They will be correctly recreated the next time you download a document.) These files are found in the following location:

User > Library > Preferences > Ctrl

Note that the "Library" folder is accessed by clicking on the "Go" menu in Finder and then holding down the "Alt" key. See image here.

Move the shortcuts to CC applications found in the Ctrl folder to the trash.

You should now be able to download a document for editing correctly.
