Operating System
Windows
Windows 10 and 11 are the only supported versions of Windows.
Please be aware that Adobe does not support Windows 10 versions 1507, 1511, 1703, and 1709.
macOS:
14 (Sonoma), 13 (Ventura), 12 (Monterey) and 11 (Big Sur) are the only supported macOS versions.
Web Browser
Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge or Safari.
Network
Internet and Bandwidth
A stable internet connection with an absolute minimum of 10 Mbps upload and download. Slow or unreliable connections may cause the downloading or uploading of chapters to fail.
Firewall (e.g. ZScaler)
*.ctrlprint.net must be whitelisted in any security software.
TransferManager.exe and InDesign.exe or InCopy.exe must be allowed access to *.ctrlprint.net.
Please ensure any security software (e.g. AppLocker) has whitelisted %appdata%\Ctrl and %temp%\Ctrl.
TLS
TLS 1.2 or higher.
CtrlPrint Transfer Manager
This application is required to edit documents. It can be downloaded and updated here.
Please ensure that your local security settings allow Transfer Manager to be installed and run on your computer.
CtrlPrint Tagger
Local machine requirements
To successfully download and use the Tagger your computer will need the following:
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 – please be aware the Tagger does not work on macOS
- Permission from your IT administrator to run .exe from %temp%/Ctrl/Tagger/
- Permission from your IT administrator to run: Appdata/Roaming/AMANAConsulting/pdfToHTMLEx/0.14.7-win/pdf2htmlEX.exe
- If you are using AppLocker, you may need to create exceptions for the Tagger to work.
Adobe InCopy/InDesign
Documents used on CtrlPrint are version specific. There are different versions of InCopy/InDesign. To open documents you must have the correct version.
If for any reason you are unsure which version you need, check with the people creating your document. We support InCopy/InDesign:
2024 (v 19.X) – recommended for production this year InCopy | InDesign
Our recommendation is that users do not use other plug-ins in parallel with the CtrlPrint plug-ins as there is the possibility of conflicts which could cause issues for the documents.
Please note that the user licenses for Adobe InCopy/InDesign are not provided by CtrlPrint and needs to be purchased separately from Adobe.
Viewing PDFs
You will need to install a recent version of either Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader or any other PDF reader to view PDFs. We do not recommend using a web browser.
Fonts
All users working on the same project must have the correct fonts installed.
If fonts are not installed, you will see a "Missing Fonts" dialogue box in InCopy/InDesign when you download the chapter for editing and your document will look different to how you expect it.
Fonts work like applications – they must be purchased, licensed and installed. It is up to each company to decide which fonts they will use in their documents.
CtrlPrint does not supply or deliver fonts to users. Please confirm which fonts are required with your project manager or agency contact.
We recommend OTF (OpenType) for easy compatibility between Mac and Windows.
