The following information is important for all users who are upgrading an older macOS or plan to purchase a new Mac.
MacOS 10.16 Big Sur
CtrlPrint has tested and supports our system for users running macOS 10.16 (Big Sur) which was released in 2020. However please be aware that Adobe's installers for older versions of their applications are not compatible if they are for CC 2019 or older. InCopy and InDesign 2020 and 2021 (v15 and v16) can be installed as normal via the Creative Cloud application. (This means you should not upgrade to Big Sur if you need to install any version older than 2020.)
If you already have older versions installed before upgrading these will not be affected by the update and will continue to run. It is only the installers themselves which are no longer compatible.
Apple's M1 Chip and New Macs
Apple has started shipping all new Macs with their custom M1 chip. This is a major change to their hardware and means that some applications will no longer be compatible or supported. CtrlPrint has been tested and is supported, however Adobe is only supporting the latest version of their applications. New Macs with the M1 chip will not be able to download versions of InDesign or InCopy older than 2021 (v16) via the Creative Cloud desktop application.
If you need to install an older version (such as 2020) we advise you to contact Adobe directly for a temporary link to an installer. You can do so by using the chat function (there is a button in the bottom right of the page) here: Adobe Support
IMPORTANT: Adobe has not tested any version other than 2021. They also do not support any other version on Macs with the M1 chip. This means that we at CtrlPrint are not able to support older versions either. If you install 2020 (v15) you may experience performance and stability issues and will be using the application at your own risk.
